New Directions in Dentistry:
An Exclusive Interview
With Dr. Gordon Christensen
By Phillip Bonner, DDS

(Regarding occlusion...)

Occlusal disease affects at least one-third of the population, those who have bruxism and clenching, and it is time that the profession becomes more involved in this area.

Last year Kulzer introduced a device call the NTI, which is a occlusal splint for patients with headaches and TMD.  Our data thus far in CRA and in study clubs with which I work have shown this very simple, easy-to-place, inexpensive device creates a significant reduction in pain related to TMD, without a high level of effort.
